Can I recover from anxiety?
This is the most common question I get asked, “Is it possible to recover from anxiety?” and my answer is always, absolutely, yes! Anxiety is the result of a habit built up over time, where we engage in conscious negative thinking in response to symptoms of adrenaline production. Through awareness and built-up experiences over time we can change this into a new good habit.
How long does it take to recover?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer; after all, everyone’s recovery journey is unique. Just like learning a new skill, understanding anxiety requires both commitment and time. For instance, think of it like learning an instrument. While some people may pick it up quickly, others might take longer to develop their skills. Rather than focusing on a specific end date, it’s often more helpful to approach recovery as a gradual process. Take each day as it comes. This way, steady progress can be made without the pressure of seeking a quick fix.
How is your method of recovery different to others?
There are many approaches to recovering from anxiety, like medication, CBT, and counselling. My work is based on a combination of my own recovery, my experience of helping others and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I focus on making the process clear and relatable by helping to understand habits and behaviours. Together, we’ll work on building a new habit to guide you toward lasting recovery.
What is ACT?
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) helps people become more aware of their thoughts in the present moment and accepting them without fighting. It’s grown in popularity as research has shown its effectiveness in anxiety recovery. There’s lot of information online about ACT if you’d like to find out more.
Should I pay to recover from anxiety?
Nobody should feel like they have to pay for recovery. There’s plenty of free information online, though it can be challenging to determine what’s most helpful. I have limited capacity for coaching sessions but I also offer free resources on my website, which may be all some people need. For others who want more structure and support, a coaching program can provide valuable guidance to start understanding anxiety.
How are your coaching sessions run?
Coaching sessions are held remotely, either through video or audio calls; therefore, location isn’t a barrier, and I’m able to accommodate various time zones. To support a steady learning process, I recommend spacing sessions at least a week apart. However, please note that there may be a wait for the first session, as priority is given to ongoing clients to ensure a consistent program.
How many sessions will I need?
The most popular bookings are the packages, which provide enough time to tailor the methods from the book to your unique situation and establish structured steps to form a new habit. Others prefer to book single sessions while they progress. We can discuss the best option for you during a free consultation.
What happens if I need to reschedule?
I completely understand that plans can change unexpectedly, and sometimes rescheduling becomes necessary. For this reason, I aim to be as flexible as possible. Additionally, the more advance notice you’re able to provide, the easier it will be for me to accommodate and find an alternative session, even at short notice.
